Here at whiteboardoffice.com we are very serious about our writing surfaces. We decided to take some time out of our day and determine exactly why chalkboards have become old news in the work place, classroom, and in our day to day lives. We sat down to brainstorm and here are some of the reasons that we came up with:
- No chalk dust.Chalk dust is labeled as "non-toxic" and it's true because if you eat a piece of white chalk you won't die. On the other hand if you are exposed to chalk dust over an extended period of time it can cause serious respiratory problems.
- No Cleaning Your Erasers- Unlike Dry erase erasers that you're able to simply peel off chalkboard erasers have to be slammed against a hard surface to temporarily clean them out. As indicated in the first reason this can be very harmful to the respiratory system.
- No Chalkboard Sound(The Lion King)- Can you remember back to when Scar scratches his finger nails on the rock in Lion King? That's something that you'll avoid when working with dry erase boards and white boards.
- No More Chalk On Your Clothes- Have you ever seen your teacher walk away from the chalkboard and wipe her hands on her pants? Although it's very funny to watch as she walks around with a white hand mark on her pants it is very embarrassing if you're the teacher. With dry erase boards and white boards this will never happen.
- Chalkboards Aren't Magnetic- Have you ever tried putting a magnet to a chalkboard? When I was in school you couldn't put anything on the chalkboard unless you had sticky tape, putty, or glue. With dry erase boards and white boards you can use any magnet that you'd like to post visual aids to help your students, children, etc..
After extensive brainstorming we ended up with a list of about 30 reasons why someone should own white boards or dry erase boards. We decided that we had a pretty good list and that it was time to get back to work.
