| This is the old trick. Try our new methods! |
As a company we strive to offer the best white boards and dry erase boards but over time every white board is going to lose it's shine regardless of where you buy it. Here at our office we have several white boards that we purchased as test orders when we initially started out in June. We use the white board every day to brainstorm ideas, take notes, draw out business plans, and to play hangman during our down time. As you can see in the picture below our white board is hammered as we're in need of a new one. The reason that the dry erase board is in such bad condition right now is because we accidentally used permanent marker on it and didn't maintain the shine after we got the permanent marker off. We've came up with several really effective methods for maintaining your white board but in this blog post we are going to specifically talk about 5 ways on how to get permanent marker off a dry erase board.
How to get permanent marker off a dry erase board:
| Dry Erase Board At Our Office |
- Using a Dry Erase Marker to get the permanent marker off - The oldest trick in the book
- Step 1- Find the white board that you need to clean up
- Step 2- Get a Dry Erase Marker
- Step 3- Get a Dry Erase Eraser
- Step 4- With the new Dry Erase Marker draw over the permanent marker on the white board
- Step 5- Take the Eraser and wipe clean!
- Step 6- Be Happy
- 90% or higher Isopropyl - Rubbing Alcohol
- Make sure that it's at least 90% because it won't work well if it's a lower percentage
- Rub the alcohol on the permanent markings on the white board
- Wipe Clean with a dry soft cloth
- Hand Sanitizer Method
- We learned this while on a service Mission in Chile during the earthquake of 2011
- Apply hand sanitizer to the permanent markings
- Wipe Clean with a dry soft cloth
- Toothpaste - We like to use normal mint toothpaste without any flakes in it
- It doesn't work to get rid of scratches in CD's but it works really well to clean white boards
- Apply a small amount of toothpaste
- Wipe with a moist paper towel (preferably a very soft towel and maybe even toilet paper)
- Wipe Clean with a dry soft cloth
- Vinegar & Water - We wouldn't recommend this if you're planning on occupying the room
- Mix 1 cup water with 1/3 cup vinegar
- Apply to the area that you'd like to clean up
- Wipe Dry with a dry soft cloth
